Books: Diva

This is a companion book to the french version of Mirage, being similar in size (in fact it's slightly bigger,) style and layout (including the omission of page numbers.) After an introduction (in french, of course) the general format is: title on left page, artwork on right page. Several times two paintings have been included on facing pages in which case no titles are given. An ideal subject for a double-page spread would have been Elijah: clearly the editor was unaware that these plates were two halves of the same painting since they were arranged in the wrong order. An unusual feature is that the back cover is effectively another plate because it shows a painting not included in the main body of the book.

I acquired a second copy of this book as part of a job lot. Since both copies are apparently first editions I didn't pay too much attention to the newer book. However, whilst compiling this page I noticed that in some instances the two books have different captions or one has a caption where the other has none! The books also differ in that one has glossy pages and the other has heavier, semi-matt, pages. Where relevant, I have shown both names as name 1 / name 2.
